self-commentary

Cycle On the Beach is a series of 25 algraphy graphics, size A6.
The inspiration of creating graphics, was observation of a nature, hawever during exploring graphic`s form, coincidence had dominated (free spilling of ink smudge). The used method, based on usage of coincidence, served to build a graphic characterised by malformation and expression. Characters were shown in their daily life. I am interested in situations, events, people, ordinary ones, who I can identify myself with. However, in all this triviality I wanted to catch something unique and original, something worth noticing.

Opinion: This diploma project consists of 25 monochrome drawings in A6 size, made in algraphy technique. I have known Natalia Klęczar since her first year of studies. Among many students who have understood how important daily work with a sketchbook is, Natalia appears to be the most convinced and consistent. Recording the observations from her nearest surroundings, from the world where she lives and which formed her as a person, has nearly become an obsession for her. She describes the world seen in a distorting mirror very critically. She emphasizes the defects and flaws of people whom she either knows or meets on her way. Her works are dominated by ugliness, emphasized by deformation, consciously distorted proportions, contrasting white and black stains, and only softened with wash paints. Her works are small-size, taken out of the sketchbook. This impression is also increased by her manner of drawing, which is characterised by far-reaching sketchiness and certain superficiality of observations. It all brings a surprising effect. First of all, an amazing expression. Secondly, it creates an individual, personal vision of the world which seems to be very close to Natalia Klęczar, despite its stigmatisation with universal ugliness. The diploma project was carried out with great focus, as well as remarkable and praiseworthy solicitude and diligence.
