self-commentary

The Island is a creation based on observing and experiencing islands as original organisms, unique forms that find their place in the middle of seas and oceans. It is an attempt to tame the space of the land of fire and ice - Iceland - a place difficult to consider as a canonical vision of life space. Multithreading of The Island starts with an attempt to interpret the social culture of Icelanders, who take great care of building social bonds and small communities. In that case, it is the placing of each projector that forces the participants to cooperate with each other to have a better and full experience. The social aspects closely correspond with mythological aspects of Icelandic beliefs, as for example, the power of light that changes trolls and dwarfs into rocks. The projection of the Icelandic landscapes is both technical quality and a mental display of contemporary interaction with nature. Technical threads covering the space of the display create a closed area of a new island, a technologically alive tissue.
