self-commentary

„Szare ziemie/Gray Lands” - is a title for my diploma project, which is based on my own fantasy novel with the same title. My idea was to created a complete, consistent project of book, made by one author. I made a series of 14 illustration, connented do chapters in the novel. They were made as prints, linocuts connected with serigraphy, and presented framed. I've also scanned them and placed in the books, that were also designed by me. My idea was to make two version of the books, based on publishing trends. First is bigger, with good quality paper, colour ilustration with a lot of space. That is the version I would like to publish someday. Second is lowcost version, with recycled paper and only black and white print. All additional elements, and covers were first make with serigraphy, and theme scanned and printed digital. I've also made an book only with oryginal prints, kind of catalouge. In addition to that, I've cut two big linocuts, 170 cm hight, and 270 cm width, also based on the novel. They were printed by hand from one matrix, on cotton canvas.
