"Paradise Lost" - inspired by John Milton's poem. Series of linocuts.

Work carried out under the supervision of dr hab. Dariusz Kaca.

The inspiration for the series of linocuts I created, was a fragment of a poem written by John Milton, "Paradise Lost". The collection of works consists of 7 colorful graphics in the technique of relief printing, in the 97x61,6 cm format, made with the linocut technique on Japanese Kizuki Kozo White paper (43g/m). To make my graphics I used a total of 32 matrices: 7 master matrices in the format 50x70 cm and 25 additional matrices, used as underlays or dies to give a color. The color in my graphics also matters. I used: black, as main color, output; yellow iris defining divine power; prussian blue defining Satanic power plus supporting colors.

As far as I remember, I focused on another human being, I watched and analyzed his behavior. Looking at people on the tram, subway, queue, I wondered who they are, what their lives are, what their worries are, whether they cry more often or laugh, what choices they make, whether they are closer to light or darkness. I was fascinated by the intricacies of human nature. Personally, I always had a well-organized system of values, with a clear border separating good from evil, deeds only correct from the wrong ones. World of black and white selections. Wherever I looked, I looked at the world with images, I was arranging collages in my head, endless stories of human dependence on God. My dependence and search for God through personal experience. Man is a battlefield between the forces of good and evil, stuck between God who will do nothing and Satan, who will do everything to win our soul. Being in the mire of this war, led to temptation every day, the greatest challenge for us is to reconcile adversity, and to understand that everything that exists is interdependent. Speaking of God, we can not determine who he is, but only who he is certainly not and seeking God, which we try to define, we forget that it is easiest to find him in another person.

Rebellion I, II, III, Fallen, Ramble I, II and Strife - my work tells about it:

The rebellion of Lucifer and Angels against God and their Fall. Curiosity of Adam and Eve, opposition to God and our Fall. Satan's ramble and reaching the end of hell. Strife - the final battle between Good and Evil which takes place in the human soul and mind.

The events that have happened to the first people take place again in each of us. Is the fate of man already determined?
